Genesys India Maps North America
Genesys India: Indian origin Genesys International Corporation has just completed a large-scale HD mapping project in North America for further facilitating Autonomous cars. The extensive HD map utilises high precision navigational geometry and 360° Panoramic Imagery providing door-to-door self-driving taxi service to the residents of the community. They will now have the ability to request a self-driving car to their doorstep and travel across anywhere within the bounds of the community fully autonomously.
Beyond the capability of Autonomous cars which already are executing operations with utmost efficiency mechanically, real-time decision making on roads needs is a much complex topic which requires more data. This is where HD Maps cover up with detailed information pinpointing positioning on maps. This mapping feat will aid autonomous cars for instantaneous decision-making. By localizing the earth spatially and informing the vehicle about exact ground true location and guiding the vehicle to align to the road, when to drive, where to head and when to stop, thereby minimising human intervention.

All the mapping is done using LiDAR source data which consists of billions of pixels, or commonly referred to as a point cloud. All these pixels are collected and processed to extract features to create a machine-readable image of the road as well as the entire surrounding environment – and as such, a nearly a unique “fingerprint” of every stretch of road. Genesys has put India’s innovation skills on the world map thus provide a platform to create strong home-grown technological infrastructure.
